Melvyn Tan, piano
Melvyn Tan has lived in London since leaving his native Singapore at an early age to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music. Mr. Tan built a formidable international reputation during a long exploration of the precursors of the modern piano, culminating in a series of groundbreaking performances and recordings on the fortepiano.
Mr. Tan has worked with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic and Netherlands Symphony orchestras, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields; he has toured Australia regularly with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
In the 2010/11 season, Melvyn Tan will be performing the opening concert of the Brucknerfest in Linz, Austria, appearing at the Haydn Festival Eisenstadt (Austria), performing at Wigmore Hall (England), and performing in South Africa, US, Singapore, Japan, Edinburgh Festival and throughout the UK, as well as participating in further tours with the Skampa Quartet.
