The La Jolla Symphony is the orchestral component of the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus (LJS&C), an ensemble affiliated with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) that performs a subscription season of six concert weekends at UCSD‘s Mandeville Auditorium, with special performances at other venues in Southern California. Comprised of volunteer musicians from all walks of life including UCSD students, staff and faculty as well as professional musicians, the LJS&C presents affordable concerts of ground-breaking, traditional and contemporary classical music. In 2007 the ensemble named Steven Schick as music director and conductor. Maestro Schick, a renowned contemporary percussionist and UCSD Distinguished Professor of Music, shares the LJS&C concert season with Choral Director David Chase, who has led the chorus for over 30 years.
