Gary Hoffman achieved international renown following his victory as the first American to
win the Rostropovich International Cello Competition in Paris in 1986. Since then, Mr. Hoffmann has appeared as soloist with the world’s leading orchestras, including Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland and London. A frequent guest of the Emerson, Tokyo and Borromeo string quartets, Mr. Hoffman is also an artist member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
Mr. Hoffman has been a guest at many music festivals, including Aspen, Marlboro, the Casals Festival (France), Mostly Mozart, Santa Fe, Schleswig-
Holstein (Germany), Verbier (Switzerland) and others. Mr. Hoffman plays the 1662 Nicolò Amati cello formerly owned by Leonard Rose.
