Desmond Hoebig has served as Principal Cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Associate Principal Cellist of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. After six seasons with the Cleveland Orchestra, Mr. Hoebig left in 2009 to teach at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and to pursue solo opportunities.

First prize winner at the Munich International Competition, Mr. Hoebig has soloed with major orchestras including the Houston and San Diego symphonies and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Born in Vancouver, Hoebig studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School.
