Andreas Haefliger, piano
A musical thinker whose interpretations spring from a rich cultural heritage, Andreas Haefliger is a consummate artist and one of the leading pianists of his generation. In the US he has performed with the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Pittsburgh, Chicago and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras. In recent years, the focus of Mr. Haefliger’s solo recitals has been an ongoing series Perspectives on Beethoven, in which he performs the complete piano works of Beethoven alongside works by composers including Mozart, Schubert, Bartók, Brahms, Janáček, Schoenberg and Ligeti. As a chamber musician he has collaborated frequently with the Takács Quartet, and has recorded piano quintets of Dvorak and Schubert with them. Born in Switzerland and raised in Germany, Mr. Haefliger completed his studies at The Julliard School.
