About the Performance:
SummerFest celebrates the centennial of French Composer Olivier Messiaen’s birth. Known for his rhythmically complex and innovative melodies, this concert will feature his most performed and inspirational piece Quatuor pour la Fin du Temps (Quartet for the End of Time) which he composed with smuggled paper and pencils and debuted while imprisoned in a camp during World War II.
