China Philharmonic replaces National Orchestra of Spain
SAN DIEGO, CA – La Jolla Music Society has announced a change in this season’s Celebrity Orchestra Series. The China Philharmonic Orchestra, one of Asia's leading symphonic ensembles, will perform in place of the National Orchestra of Spain. The reason for the change, as stated by their representative at Columbia Artists Management, was “the Spanish government has been compelled to make severe reductions in the financial support of all artistic organizations and the reduction of subsidy to the National Orchestra of Spain makes it impossible for them to maintain any overseas touring including the North American tour planned for April 2011.”
