As the largest presenter of classical music and dance in San Diego County, La Jolla Music Society has the opportunity and obligation to open its doors to audiences who, for various reasons, might not otherwise be able to attend. Through the Concert Ticket Program, many San Diego students are afforded their first experience with outstanding orchestral music; students from our education partners support their musical training; and members from community partnerships may come to events that they would not typically consider.

The first time a child hears a magnificent concert can be a life changing moment. The music that accompanies their lives, from radio, television, and movie soundtracks, is suddenly expanded to include new styles, instruments and ideas. Students are inspired by the idea that composers and performers share an international language that unites, rather than divides, humanity. Each year, hundreds of children get this introduction to the world of music by attending La Jolla Music Society concerts at no charge. The program supports partnerships with the Visual and Performing Arts Departments of both the San Diego Unified School District and San Diego County Office of Education, as well as with individual schools. The program allows students and teachers to arrive by bus and share the experience as a group. Community Music Center students come with their families, bonding through the experience and supporting for parents the idea that the study of music is a worthwhile pursuit.

San Diego Youth Symphony Partnership

For students in the San Diego Youth Symphony, attending a La Jolla Music Society concert is more than a night out. Moving from the stage to the audience allows the students to observe technique and listen with a critical ear, analyzing the compositions and finding the tools to bring their own performance to new levels. Student in the San Diego Youth Symphony are invited to attend several performances each year and are often give the chance to interact with the featured artists.

Discounted Tickets

La Jolla Music Society’s marketing department builds bridges to the community by offering discounted tickets via group sales. Group sales allow access to world-class artistry for such diverse groups as the Huaxia Chinese School, the San Diego Center for the Blind and the Girl Scouts of America. Specific partnerships are put in place for target audiences, such as the San Diego Early Music Society and the Center for Jewish Culture.
